Hydrangeas, (Hortencias in Portuguese) remind me of spring, warm days playing and laying in the grass, laughs, and good times with my family.
These are from my parent’s ranch in Brazil. In the spring they are abundant and everywhere.
Their color supposedly varies depending on the pH of the soil. If it is more acid the flowers are blue, while alkaline soils produce lighter color flowers.
I grew up hearing that in order to have pink and purple Hydrangeas one needed to bury the top lids of glass bottles(soda and beer) in the soil. I don’t think my mom does that, but they are different colors and grow right next to each other.
