Reboot Detox Day 2

12 Mar

A little late, I know, I have been busy juicing my life away. Seriously, it is a lot of work! So if you are already busy I recommend to read through the recipes because some are repeated, you can make double and have it ready.

When you make your juices ahead of time, it is important to immediately store them in a glass jar with a lid in the fridge (mason jars are perfect for this). If you are taking them to work with you, make sure you keep them in a cooler with ice gels and/or the refrigerator – they are extremely perishable. To obtain the most nutrients drink it within 24 hours.

Now, to the menu:

When you wake up: Hot water with lemon and ginger

Breakfast: Berry – Apple -Cinnamon Bake (same as Day 1)

Morning Snack: Celery Pear Cucumber

CeleryPearCucumberjuice

Lunch: Kale and Avocado Salad+Raw Carrot Ginger Soup

Raw Carrot Ginger Soup

Raw Carrot Ginger Soup

The original recipe for this raw soup includes honey and coconut. I do not like sweet soups, so I adapted again to my taste. Instead, I skipped those ingredients, and added curry powder, and cayenne and garnished with avocado.

Afternoon Snack: Celery Pear Cucumber

Dinner: Green Detox Soup+Sauteed greens with Garlic

For the Sauteed Greens I used Chard, Kale and Spinach. I sauteed in coconut oil with garlic, sea salt and a dash of nutmeg. My favorite recipe of the day!

Before Bed: Herbal Tea (caffeine free)

The second day went by fine. No cravings, and no painful side effects. I felt super energized, as if I had taken 5 espresso shots at once.

So far, so good!

Reboot Detox Day 1

6 Mar

The first day of our Reboot was pretty easy. I went shopping for the first phase of the program (days 1 to 5), and bought as much as organic produce as I could. I bought most things at Costco and Trader Joe’s and the final cost was around $200 US dollars.

When I got home I washed everything in water with white vinegar and the vegetable’s cleaning solution I buy at Traders or Sprouts. Then dried, prepped and stored it all to make my life easier.

The First Day Menu looked like this:

When you wake up:8 0z (250 ml) hot water with lemon and ginger

Breakfast: Berry-Apple Cinnamon Bake (see recipe on my Instagram)

Morning Snack: Carrot Apple Ginger Juice (recipe below)

6 carrots 4 apples 2 inch (5cm) fresh ginger

6 carrots
4 apples
2 inch (5cm) fresh ginger

Lunch: Reboot Green Salad (recipe below)+ Carrot and Sweet Potato Fries

Afternoon Snack: Carrot Apple Ginger Juice

Dinner: Kale and avocado Salad with Vinaigrette +Carrot and Sweet Potato Fries (recipe at Reboot with Joe website)

Before Bed: Herbal Tea

One thing that makes it easier is that the morning and afternoon snacks are the same, and all recipes yield 2 servings, so you can save one serving for later.

And another thing is that I always adapt the recipes to my taste and convenience. If I don’t like something, or cannot find it at the store, I try to substitute it for another same color vegetable. I know it is not the same, but I refuse to suffer and eat something I hate (like raw cilantro),or spend a fortune on something that is off season.

First day was easy. No side effects. I actually felt a rush of energy mid-afternoon as if I had just drank 3 shots of espresso.

Nine days to go.
